Dean College sets the tempo in Downtown Franklin
As you can readily see at the start of the video above, Dean College is pivotal to the success of the Franklin Holiday Stroll: the tree lighting ceremony that starts the Stroll is held on the Dean campus!
Dean provides the tree lighting venue, the tree itself, the carolers, the hot chocolate and the school’s bulldog mascot “Boomer” who poses for photos with the kids!
But Dean’s contributions to the quality of life in Franklin extend well beyond the Stroll. Dean students enliven the downtown throughout the academic year! It’s their patronage that has so many eateries and shops doing business in downtown Franklin. Dean draws students from around the world and it is very stimulating seeing such an international student body walking to classes and throughout the downtown area. Dean offers a great curriculum, and has a top notch performing arts department. Franklin would not be nearly as open, vibrant and exciting as it is without Dean College!
Franklin Downtown Partnership enhances downtown Franklin
The Franklin Holiday Stroll would not exist without the hard work of the Franklin Downtown Partnership. In fact, all of downtown Franklin would be much the poorer without the key support provided year round by the Partnership.
The Partnership is a charitable and educational organization dedicated to improving downtown Franklin. It receives financial support via government grants along with membership dues and donations from Franklin businesses and residents. The organization helps beautify the downtown with seasonal plantings and displays. In addition to the Holiday Stroll, the Partnership sponsors other beloved downtown events including the Harvest Festival and the Strawberry Festival. Downtown Franklin Historical Museum a fun attraction
Not that many I-495 communities can boast a thriving town museum! Franklin has a wonderful one in the Franklin Historical Museum and it’s right in the heart of the downtown.
The night of the Holiday Stroll, Mrs. Santa Claus was inside the Museum to welcome children and read them stories.
If you haven’t been to the Franklin Historical Museum, you should drop by. It has a lot of interesting displays and certainly adds to the character and diversity of downtown Franklin.

Franklin School for the Performing Arts a big plus for Franklin, MA
In support of the Holiday Stroll, the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) opened this new downtown performance venue to the public for a series of short theatrical presentations.
Called THE BLACK BOX, this 200 seat theater will be the setting for live shows of local talent, performances featuring Broadway actors, and productions by the FSPA-affiliated Franklin Performing Arts Company. THE BLACK BOX is located at 15 West Central Street, Franklin, MA, just behind the Main Street headquarters of the FSPA.
Franklin has been exceedingly fortunate to have the FSPA conduct its operations in town. This Franklin based performing arts organization is an internationally recognized developer of talent in music, dance and drama. Many successful entertainment careers have been launched from the FSPA, some of whose graduates have appeared on Broadway and other world class venues.
