The e-Government Award recognizes Massachusetts communities whose municipal websites contain open, detailed records pertaining to 6 key categories of local governance, including local codes and by-laws, municipal budgets and spending, and the governing body’s agenda and meeting minutes.

Franklin earned the award because of the quality and breadth of information provided on the Franklin, MA municipal web site http://www.franklinma.gov/.  117 Massachusetts cities and town shared in the e-Government Award this year, out of the total 351 communities which comprise the Commonwealth.

There’s certainly a lot more to the official Franklin website than the dry details of the day-to-day operations of governmental departments!

The site gives easy and comprehensive access to each town department. (I really like the assessor department’s links to on-line tax maps and assessor data.)

You’ll also find on the site a wealth of wonderful information on the vibrant Franklin Public Schools system; from the administrator’s office right down to almost every class at each of the Franklin elementary schools, you’ll find lots of information and current events.  

The Franklin town site also provides a link to a non-official, commercial site which hosts postings from the many youth sports, community and service organizations that enhance the high quality of life you’ll find in Franklin, MA.  

The official Town of Franklin website is a great resource for residents and prospective residents alike (sort of like 02038.com is as well!)
